I love waking up to mailing list emails that actually have something awesome to say/share/whatever. This morning was especially awesome. Manchester Orchestra have released a video for my favorite song off of Simple Math, "Virgin." Check out the unique fan made video below, as well as the equally unique story behind it. Enjoy! I've already watched it five times while preparing this post...
When the band was approached in the middle of the day by a fan in Rochester, New York they figured they’d be signing a couple of albums, stopping to say hello, taking a photo for a dude’s Facebook or doing normal things that fans do besides hand deliver the band a music video. The student, who had been working on edits for a film school assignment, had been listening to Simple Math in the background, and accidentally found out that the clip matched up with the band’s song perfectly. Oddly, freakishly perfectly.
“We were skeptical to say the least, but the more he talked about it, the more we were interested in actually seeing this thing,” told the band. “He pulled his laptop out and placed it on the steps to the bus. We were blown away. We put him in touch with our manager and for the last few months he’s been putting the finishing touches to this incredible piece. This is that rare moment when art expands further than first intentions or expectations. Where two different inspirations can coincide to create something better. We proudly present to you: ‘Virgin’, directed by Ben Disinger.”
